Held twice every year, the Shenzhen International Furniture Exhibition (SIFE) has been growing from strength to strength for the past decade. Its current edition, held from March 19-22, 2008, is becoming a truly international fair and is a boost of confidence in its continuing efforts at internationalising.

The Indonesian pavilion took shape after several rounds of discussion between SIFE organiser Shenzhen Furniture Association, and ASMINDO (Indonesian Furniture Industry & Handicraft Association). It was supported by several government agencies: the Small and Medium Scale Industry, Agro-Chemical Industry, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprise and East Java Provincial Administration. Thanks to their collective efforts, some 52 companies from provinces of Central Java, West Java, Yogyakarta and East Java arrived at Shenzhen to showcase products that are distinctly Indonesian. Sophie Ouyang, Vice Manager of the Department of Commerce, Shenzhen Furniture Association says that the fair will focus more on upholstered furniture and products with a Scandinavian feel. Organisers will continue building on international cooperation and raising local exhibitors’ standards.
